Tanya Coghill
Tanya Coghill is running in the October 11, 2025 Municipal By-Election for Abbotsford School Trustee, bringing her deep experience and commitment to strengthening public education to the role.
About Me
Tanya Coghill has been recognized with the Abbotsford Board of Education’s Community Matters Award (2023) and as one of Abbotsford News’ “Heroes in Education.” Tanya’s hallmark has always been her guiding principle of “Serving with Joy,” which has inspired schools, parents, and volunteers throughout the district and beyond. Tanya has been contributing to the success of the Abbotsford School District since 2007.
Born and raised in Abbotsford, Tanya Coghill has served this community for decades, in leadership roles with: local sports organizations, the Children's Ministry at Central Heights Church, customer service management and community programs. Married for 29 years and counting and mom of two, she values family, integrity, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people.
Volunteering and Achievements
Served in leadership roles on Parent Advisory Councils (PACs) at elementary, middle, and secondary levels
Former Director on the Abbotsford School District PAC (DPAC); mentored numerous PACs within and outside Abbotsford for over 12 years and counting
Nominated three times and awarded the 2023 Community Matters Award by the Abbotsford Board of Education
Profiled as one of Abbotsford News’ “Heroes in Education” (2023)
Helped develop and present a Gender Equity Message for secondary school PACs in 2022 & 2023, advocating for equal recognition and opportunities for girls in athletics, academics, and extracurriculars
Led and supported initiatives such as hot lunch programs, milk programs, fruit and veggie programs, and parent involvement strategies
Spoke at the November 2, 2021 Public School Board meeting on behalf of parents at three schools (Yale, ATS, and Robert Bateman Secondary) regarding Advanced Placement exam fee increases
Coordinated volunteers and logistics in the opening of Irene Kelleher Totí:ltawtxw school in 2022/2023
Volunteered extensively in Abbotsford youth sports organizations:
